Q: Give us an idea of what is the immediate expansion plan—you have spoken publically about the six-seven year plan—what is in the pipeline for the next two years? A: Over the next six-to seven years, we intend to add 7,000 megawatts (MW) of capacity. But immediately we have got financial closures for our project in Chandrapur in Maharashtra, which is Rs 3,200 crore. We have got to financial close for our project in Haldia, which is another Rs 3,200 crore and we are hopeful of getting to financial close for our Orissa project which is 1320 MW and roughly about Rs 6,800 crore by December this year. Q: All this would be separate special purpose vehicle (SPVs)—what would be your own equity contribution? A: These would be in SPVs, which would be owned by CESC and CESC would own anywhere from 70-80% of the SPVs. Q: What is the equity contribution that you have to make for these projects in the next two years? A: As far as CESC is concerned, for these three projects the equity contribution that we are looking for is about Rs 3,000 crore. Q: How do you plant to raise this? Will you come to the market at all? A: It is going to be a combination of internal accruals plus cash deposits that we have and plus there might be some capital raising or dilution at the SPV level or a combination of both. Q: Have you already started speaking to potential buyers for selling off your stake in SPVs where financials closure is over and done? A: Yes, we have initiated a dialogue and that process is going on. There seems to be more interest than we can handle at this point in time. Q: We should expect an announcement maybe before this quarter is out or before the year is out? Q: The other company that you own is Saregama and that too has been in news with the recent development on the music royalty. Where do you stand on that issue and what is the plan with this company? A: The more the digital deliver platform becomes acceptable the brighter the future for Saregama because you are transcending boundaries and you are reaching out to many more people through the digital delivery platform. Having said that when you have FM station that you will pay only 2% royalties or whatever that is something that we find unacceptable and if there is a ruling we would challenge that. Q: Shifting to power unit of your company, what amount of power you expect you will be generating by FY12 and therefore what would it do to your revenues? A: It will be towards the end of 2012 that we will have the Chandrapur project operational and it will be the early part of calendar year 2013 that Haldia would become operational so you would see accretive revenues in the FY13-14 for the full year but up to 2012 we had no additional capacity which would go on stream. ...
