But i am a bit old fashioned, i dont buy stock purely to watch the price, i buy it because i like the business and if the stock is a good value to enter and sell only when i dont feel the same about the stock due to any changes that will adversely impact the company going forward or if i spot other investment opportunity that can deliver higher return. ...

Dear Smartian, with short term inestors more caution is needed purely because there are a lot of domesting and international factors that can push the stock lower, a bit like what happened with the European crisis etc..you dont want to be holding stock that you cant hold on to due to other financial commitments. Which is why short term investors need to be more cautious. For me invesment is medium to long term, less than that is speculation, which warrants a lot more caution....
